Aim of the course: To provide the students with the background of knowledge in the intelligent transport systems, information technology, services and features of intelligent transport systems, advanced sensors and communications systems, global navigation and routing, principles of transport telematics systems functionality.
Learning outcomes: On successful completion of the course, student will be able to
Knowledge:
- understand the
basic concepts and terminology in the field of intelligent transportation
systems, telecommunications, global navigation and computer networks;
- have an
understanding of the function, mode of action, features, structure and
classification of vehicle telematics systems;
Skills:
- carry out simple measurements in electric circuits,
computer and telecommunication networks, video and audio sensors, give the interpretation
of tachograph data;
Competences:
- perform the comparative
analysis and classification of vehicle's telematics systems on base of its
performance characteristics;
- perform
planning, analysis and optimization of the simplest routes as a complete
document, using information resources of the Internet, TSI intranet and
e-Moodle.
Requirements for obtaining credits (assessment structure): Laboratory and practical work in the group (for full-time students only) - (40%), individual homework (essayfor part-time students only) - (40%), final test - (60%).
