This course introduces the fundamental concepts of database systems. The course covers the theoretical principles of relational databases and enables students to apply that knowledge when developing and using relational databases. The course teaches how to create relational database designs by applying conceptual modeling, logical design, and normalization theory. Structured Query Language (SQL) is introduced to develop practical skills in creating and using relational databases in a DBMS environment.
